Rejections can be draining. . . No, they suck!

Have you ever experienced rejection, or should I say, repeated rejection? Like when you're on the basketball court and that really big guy continually swats your shot away (Ok, maybe that's just with short people like me). Or maybe, when the girl you finally build up the courage to ask out, says no. And not just "no", but an emphatic "NO". Ya know, the one that follows with a sorry excuse like, "I am sorry, but I've got to wash my hair that night". Well, rejection sucks. No matter what type. Somehow, it just penetrates to the core of us... I think.

In my last post, I mentioned that I had applied yet again for a new Employment (work) Visa. Well, I received the official rejection a few days ago. We've been bewildered and a bit discouraged. Somehow, this third rejection just seemed to cut to the core of my being - the place of my reserve tank of optimism. At least that's what I thought. We've been amazed by all the emails, texts, posts, comments, and simply, words of encouragement we've received lately. Thank you fellowship - that is, the community of people willing to go out of their way to share life with us, even though we may be separated by waters, countries, and distances that seem like forever and a day away. Again, thank you.

It's with these words of encouragement, and prayers of the fellowship that we've awakened to a new week here in Singapore with a renewed sense of purpose. Basically, we've been reassured that no "earthly rejection" can compare to the "eternal adoption" that we've experienced in Christ. You see, we know that God has a plan for us. We know that He will continue to use us because we long to be used by Him as continued salt and light. We're still salty and we're still bright even in the midst of what seems like a dark
ambiguous time. Thanks be to God and the fellowship.

So, if you're experiencing and/or have experienced rejection lately. Turn to the one whom will never reject anyone who seeks. In fact, He promises us that if we "seek Him, we will find Him"! This is honestly, all that matters in life - HIM. Sure, we have goals here in Singapore; goals in our lives as spouses, parents, and in the market place. But, truthfully, and in the midst of ambiguity we declare one solid assurance - His Blessed Assurance and this is the assurance we hope will supersede any earthly rejection you may be living through.

Thanks for sharing! This is exactly where I'm living right now and I needed to hear that I'm not alone in the rejections, nor the decision to remain rooted in our blessed assurance. Praying for you!

Thank you for your honest blog entry. Carol and I believe in and are praying for you.

Remember Messiah was despised and rejected by men (Isaiah 53:3). Disciples were rejected by men by chosen by God (1 Peter 2:4).

God "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20).

Take heart: Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33). And He will make you overcomers in the Spirit.

If I may comment: obviously it's substantial the Bible gives multiple paths- 2 being: planning (followed by change) & waiting. (Paul and Elijah). Daily we choose something from God's hand. From 12-step programs we learn the phrase "just for today"... all God has ever granted. If you have something to do each day.. take comfort & act upon it. It appears Rahab believed through to the last day...off just one promise. May you continue to find God's blessing on you/your family.
