Happy Twenty Ten!

The new year is here. 2010 has arrived and every time I read it my brain tends to just say "didn't they make movies about this year?!" Well, we had a different but good Christmas and holiday season. New Years was a tame one for us... a little movie night and some family texting and phone talk time on New Years Eve and then on Jan 1 we relaxed at our local reservoir park right behind our apartment. So, now we're back in the grind of things, as Monday kicked off with some extremely gusty winds and of course another humid day - but who's complaining?!

Our daughter (Natalie) began school this morning. Yeah, she has officially had her very first day of school. Mommy helped her get dressed in her school uniform, while daddy got breakfast ready. And then Mommy and Natalie walked to school. Our daughter is a trooper. Within 5 minutes she was already playing with the toys and fine being on her own. Thank you God. Daddy picked her up and we headed for a nice Daddy/Daughter treat- Sugar Cane Juice!

The momentous day has come and gone and I still can't believe that my daughter is in school 2 hours/day 5 days/week! We're excited for her to make friends, embrace a love to learn, and even learn Mandarin. But even more, I think we have been reminded of the beauty of life and learning. Our Father, no matter our age, is continually shaping us and nurturing us along this path of life and learning. And if we ever believe we've "made it" or that we "know it", we don't. There is always more to learn and ways to grow. So, as a child, let's embrace the "love to learn" no matter how our Father teaches us. Because truthfully, He knows how to teach each of us just the way we need it!

Quickly we'd just like to thank the many people who wrote, sent gifts/cards, and or called us. We are blessed and grateful. It is especially nice to not be forgotten. It truly means a lot when the "thought that counts" becomes an action! So, thank you!

Before we sign off we'd just like to share one more thought as we all embark upon this new year. Let's be real. Real to ourselves, real to others, real! Phillip Yancey is known to have said, "I would rather be with someone who is real than someone who is good." I think he has a very vital point, especially when it comes to being Christians. Jesus never came to turn people from being bad to good. He came to seek and save the lost. He came to redeem. He came to point us to the Father. And He came to bring about the Kingdom of God. He came to love and love in the most real way possible.

Let's be real. Let's be real lovers to everyone this year. Don't just go out your door daily and try and be good, but instead ask Christ how you might be REAL for Him today. And I think if you're real for Him, you'll end up finding the real self you want to be! Just a thought!

Finally, we've uploaded some new pictures once again, so please do not hesitate to visit us in candid action at: Xmas Day and a Little More and if you are interested in a little laugh or in seeing why I am doing so many talks on parenting and marriage take a look at this little video from one of the government sectors whom I do talks for:

Keepin' it real in 2010! From us with love.
